Supporting Documentation
The documentation required depends on the claim, ingredient, supplier, and product under review. Supporting records may include:
-
Supplier specifications or technical data sheets
-
Certificates of analysis
-
Third-party certifications
-
Supplier declarations and processing statements
-
Ingredient sourcing, origin, or chain-of-custody records
-
Purchase records, invoices, or production records
-
Farm, grower, manufacturer, extraction records
-
Other documentation requested to evaluate the claim
Documentation must be current, relevant to the specific ingredient and product, and consistent with the claim being made. Submitting a document does not automatically establish that a claim meets the applicable TSB standard.
Fragrance, Parfum & Essential Oils
Products containing fragrance or parfum must provide an applicable IFRA Certificate of Conformity for the product’s intended use.
Products containing essential oils or essential-oil blends must provide applicable supplier documentation supporting ingredient identity, composition, and any relevant IFRA restrictions or use limits. Additional documentation may be required based on the ingredient or claim under review.
Third-Party Certifications
Third-party certification claims must be supported by current documentation issued by the applicable certifying organization and must accurately reflect the product, ingredient, or scope covered by the certification. The Skincare Bureau® reviews that documentation as support for the claim but does not issue, replace, or independently validate the underlying certification.
