Verification

Verification Overview

The Skincare Bureau™ independently verifies ingredient claims used in skincare products—such as organic, cold-pressed, and sustainably sourced—through structured documentation review.

What is Verification

A documentation-based standard for ingredient claims in skincare.

All claims must be supported by documentation that aligns with the ingredient and how it is represented.

What We Verify

Brands submit product details and supporting documentation.  Each product is evaluated for:

Claims used in labeling and marketing

Alignment between INCI and ingredient claims

Supporting documentation for ingredients tied to claims

Consistency across product representation

Alignment with The Skincare Bureau™ Ingredient Standards

Documentation for fragrance and essential oil components (including IFRA compliance)

The Standard

Products must align with The Skincare Bureau™ Ingredient Standards and be free from non-approved ingredients.

Verification is applied only to claims that are actively used in labeling or marketing.

Each claim must be supported by documentation tied to the specific ingredient.

Scope of Verification

The Skincare Bureau™ does not conduct laboratory testing, certify product safety or efficacy, or replace regulatory compliance requirements. Verification is based solely on documentation and how ingredient claims are represented.

The Verified Mark

Verification is applied through a structured review process, evaluating ingredient claims for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with supporting documentation and product representation. Verification brings clarity to ingredient claims—helping consumers trust what they see, and giving brands a credible way to stand behind what they say.
